The Mission of the Amarillo Botanical Gardens:

Serving the community by inspiring interaction with plants and the environment, creating adventure and conveying knowledge.

 

 

 

Adult Education

Join us for one of our 2010 class offerings.  All year we will have fun, interesting and educational programs to participate in.  Classes may include: container gardening, composting, seed starting, holiday floral design, rose gardening, xeriscaping, weekend gardener basics 101 and more!  Check back often as we add courses throughout the year. All classes start at 10a and last approximately 2 hours.  $5 for members; $10 for non-members.

August 7, Xeriscape Gardening with Neal Hinders, owner of Canyon's Edge Plants

August 21, Bulbs with Bob Hatton and Greg Lusk

September 11, Gardening for Butterflies and Hummingbirds with Neal Hinders, owner of Canyon's Edge Plants

September 25, Composting with Roy Sooter and Vermiculture with Stanley Burzinski

 

 

 

Youth Education

Youth groups/classes can participate in a guided tour of the gardens and conservatory, a class program or both.  Videos also available.  Four class topics available: bees, butterflies, trees, or rainforest.  Each class includes a hands-on project.

 

Age:    Appropriate for children Pre K - 5th grade.  Programs tailored to age of children.

Days:    Tuesdays & Thursdays

Length:    Approximately 1.5 hours

Size:    No more than 60 children per reservation

Fees:    Guided tours, program, etc.: $2 per child.  Self guided tours, that do not participate in programs or need access to classroom space, are free until October 1, 2010 thanks to support by Amarillo National Bank.
